Here's what some clients have said...
"Entry Point arranged job interviews with potential employers which helped me get a part-time job. This free, accessible service was terrific, especially because my job developer came and met me right at my school when it was convenient for me"
“I had problems in the workplace due to a mental disability that greatly affects my life. This mental disability also affects how I performed during job interviews. I met with an Entry Point counsellor during a part time job fair. I was unemployed. I came to Entry Point because I wanted help finding work and I also wanted to improve my job search skills. My job developer helped me improve my resume and cover letter writing skills. I also had an opportunity to improve my interview skills, which was instrumental towards my obtainment of full time work. I am grateful to have been assisted by people who took the time to understand my issues and who encouraged me during my job search.” Andrew
“Before I joined Entry Point it was very difficult for me to find a job. I sent many resumes to many different companies and no one contacted me. I was very frustrated. I was a student of the Deaf Upgrading program at George Brown College and my teacher informed me about Entry Point. Also, several Deaf students were also with Entry Point and told me it was very good. Entry Point was very helpful. They encouraged me to go to workshops and Job Fairs. This helped me learn more about getting a job. I have been successful-I am starting a contract job next week. Entry Point is a great organization. I am very happy that they support and respect Deaf people. Thank you.”
"As a student I needed ways to access employment that was career related. Entry Point has given me a good start. Entry Point has given me direction, helped me focus on my employment objectives, and given me an opportunity to obtain work in my field of study. I am gaining hands on work experience in a career I hope to build on and I am able to give back to my community"
“After graduating from George brown College, I was with another agency for employment for one year - the other agency was not very helpful and was not aware about people with Disabilities and Deaf people. There was frustration communicating with them and they were not positive towards to me (i.e.: saying that Deaf cannot do anything at any certain job) It was a barrier for me to find jobs. I decided to change to a new agency. I heard about the Entry Point program. The counsellor has been really great to me and she provided a lot of resources and the services that accommodate my needs. It made my life easier and my self-confidence was boosted even though it was hard t o find jobs. Entry Point has a lot of awareness about people with Disabilities and Deaf people. They have full access which gave me less frustration and less anxiety. I think that anyone who wants help from an employment program, they should go to Entry Point. I found out about it through a friend of mine and from the consultant at George Brown College. They advised me to contact Entry Point and I decided to apply because it is a non-profit organization (better than a profit organization.) They have good access and the resources that we need. How Entry Point helped me change my situation:
• By having an access and options for the Deaf and people with Disabilities.
• By making a commitments (caseworker and client) to work together as a team.
• By providing the resources and being supportive as much as they can.
• Through support with my resume, interview practice, advice, and feedback.
• Creating a very positive and friendly environment.
I would like to add that I felt very relieved to have a caseworker from Entry Point to help me and support to find jobs, but not only that, she provided a lot of support, encouragement and worked with me as a team (equal). My self- esteem has improved because of the encouragement and the support from her.”
