What can I expect when I contact Entry Point?
The Entry Point team is a dedicated group of individuals who work with you to achieve your professional goals.
During your first meeting, your Entry Point counsellor will discuss your goals and expectations from the job search process. We will assist you in filling out and submitting the necessary enrolment documentation then, together, we will create a job action plan that outlines the steps necessary in order to prepare for work.
Please feel free to request accommodations when contacting Entry Point. Entry Point counsellors are also flexible to meet you on campus or in a public location that best suits your schedule and mobility needs.
What is an employment counsellor and how would it benefit me to work with one?
An employment counsellor is an excellent resource for you to access while you job search.
An employment counsellor advises, coaches, provides information, and supports you while planning and performing your job search. In addition to this, once you start work your employment counsellor continues to offer support to help you make the most of your work experience.
Some of the benefits to working with an Entry Point employment counsellor:
• Open, honest discussion and advice on your job search
• Referrals to resources available to you for the transition from school to work
• Support in requesting and negotiating accommodations from employers
• Connections to employers and the ‘hidden job market’
• Best practices, tips and hints on how to be successful in your job search
Can I work while in school?
Entry Point helps students find full or part time work. The decision to work and the amount of time you devote to working depends on many factors including your school schedule, work load, health, extra-curricular commitments, etc.
The decision to work is something that you must make for yourself.
I am receiving ODSP Income support. Am I eligible for Entry Point?
